Imperial German Bavarian Damascus Sword, fine example in the Model 1889 style with folding guard having Bavarian coat of arms to the centre. Pierced knuckle bow and fine pommel having foliage relief. The top of the pommel has engraved initials of the original owner. The grip with shagreen covering and wire binding. Housed in its original black finished scabbard with single hanging ring. Blade is a piped back single edged straight blade with fine Damascus pattern and etched engraving with foliage and the Bavarian state motto. Lower section of the blade with a etched scroll having Aecht Damast. Makers trade mark of crown over crossed swords and C K Co. Spine of the blade etched M ZÖLTSCH HOFL, MÜNCHEN. Some light wear but overall a nice example.
